Moongazing on My Roof

Lucent galactic ball in the sky

your godly presence illuminates

a stark contrast to my cardiac organ

of which an artery has been removed

pumping during night as a black hole.

The universe’s astral brightness

knows I am besmirched in pain

if it reached down to Earth’s plain

whisking me away into outer space

I wouldn’t resist, it would be a relief.

Moonlight please never leave heaven

you and the stars emit wonder as dots

humbling my heartbroken miserable soul

as I swim through each day trying to heal

my living, breathing human body and spirit.
